His Highness Maharaja Gaj Singh of Jodhpur emphasized the transformative impact of destination weddings in Rajasthan during the stakeholder meet for the upcoming Rajasthan Domestic Travel Mart (RDTM). Scheduled from September 13 to 15, 2024, at the Birla Auditorium in Jaipur, RDTM is jointly organized by the Rajasthan Tourism Department and the Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of Rajasthan (FHTR).
Themed ‘Wedding, Incentive, Conference and Event,’ RDTM 2024 aims to position Rajasthan as a premier destination for weddings, leveraging its rich cultural heritage and opulent settings. The event is expected to draw over 200 exhibitors, 1300 buyers, and more than 7,000 visitors, making it a pivotal platform for the tourism sector.
Highlighting Rajasthan’s allure as a wedding destination, Maharaja Gaj Singh stated, “Rajasthan offers a blend of cultural richness and royal hospitality. Hosting destination weddings here not only showcases our heritage but also generates substantial employment opportunities for locals.”
The inaugural ceremony featured prominent dignitaries including Mrs. Gayatri Rathore, Principal Secretary of the Tourism Department, Dr. Rashmi Sharma, Director of the Department, and Mr. Kuldeep Singh Chandela, President of FHTR. Discussions centered on promoting experiential tourism, enhancing rural tourism, and integrating stakeholders into Rajasthan Tourism initiatives.
Mr. Chandela underscored the economic benefits of ‘Wed in Rajasthan’ campaigns, emphasizing, “Destination weddings support local vendors and contribute significantly to the state’s economy. Rajasthan’s global identity as a wedding destination is unparalleled.”
The fourth edition of RDTM will showcase a diverse range of tourism offerings including heritage sites, adventure activities, wildlife, pilgrimage tours, and eco-tourism, facilitating extensive B2B engagements among industry stakeholders.
