Kerala Used Water Management Conclave 2024 concludes

The three-day conclave of experts on recycling and reuse of wastewater, Used Water Management for Building a Water Resilient Kerala, concluded here today (Friday).

The Kerala Used Water Management (UWM) Conclave 2024 was jointly organised by the Suchitwa Mission, Kerala Water Authority, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and WASH Institute.

Kerala Water Authority Managing Director Smt.Bhandari Swagat Ranveerchand inaugurated the conclave while Shri UV Jose, Executive Director, Suchitwa Mission, presided over the opening session.

Delivering her keynote address, Additional Chief Secretary, Local Self-Government Department, Smt Sarada Muraleedharan said that, “Due to our lack of knowledge and experience in handling liquid waste, our water sources are polluted, and if we do not prevent this, it will lead to a big disaster.”

Lectures, classes and panel discussions were conducted by experts from various states and institutions during the Kerala UWM Conclave 2024.

The conclave featured presentations on effective technologies on efficient management of used water, and about successful projects that have been implemented elsewhere and are suitable for adoption in Kerala.

On the concluding day, presentations and discussions were held on the action plans for achieving Used Water Management goals.
