Minister P Rajeeve unveils Kerala’s core strengths at Davos, pitches for sustainable practices

While unveiling Kerala’s core strengths as a highly promising investment destination at the 55th annual meeting of World Economic Forum (WEF) at Davos in Switzerland, Industries Minister Shri P Rajeeve has made a strong pitch for pursuing development goals in a sustainable and inclusive manner.

Speaking at a joint media briefing with Union Minister, state Chief Ministers, and ministers of the Indian states attending the WEF, Shri Rajeeve said the state government’s well-crafted policy initiatives have set Kerala’s industrial ecosystem on a high-growth trajectory.

The state has been pursuing an industrial promotion model that places great emphasis on responsible and inclusive practices, the Minister said, pointing out that the motto of the Invest Kerala Pavilion at WEF is “We are changing the nature of business.”

“The transformation undergone by Kerala in the last few years is visible across the spectrum of economic activity from high tech-driven industries to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). 

The New Industrial Policy (NIP) of the Government has prioritised over 20 segments, where investment from across the world will be promoted with all government support and safeguards.

The Invest Kerala Global Summit, scheduled in Kochi on February 21, 22, will be showcasing the specific domains and projects where investment is expected.

The domain-specific pre-summit events have received great response from business leaders within and outside the country, Shri Rajeeve said.

The government has also reformed the procedures, simplifying and streamlining regulatory compliances enabling the investors to start enterprises within the shortest possible time-frame. These measures have made Kerala the top achiever in Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) ranking among all Indian states.

Apart from the availability of highly qualified and competent professional pool, Kerala also boasts of clean and healthy natural environment, he said.

Union Ministers Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Shri K Rammohan Naidu, Shri C R Patil, Shri Chirag Paswan, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Chandrababu Naidu, Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Telangana Chief Minister Shri Revanth Reddy, Indian Ambassador to Switzerland Shri Mridul Kumar were also present at the press conference.

Shri Rajeeve is leading a high-level delegation from Kerala at WEF, which includes Chief Secretary Smt Sarada Muraleedharan, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) Dr A Jayathilak, Principal Secretary Industries Shri APM Mohammed Hanish, Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) MD Shri S Harikishore and KSIDC Executive Director Shri Hari Krishnan R.

The delegation also attended various networking events and conducted numerous one-on-one interactions. CII Kerala Chapter President Shri Vinod Manjila was also with the Kerala delegation.
